HOTEL INFORMATION |
|
Oman is
located in the Middle East, bordering the Arabian Sea, Gulf
of Oman, and Persian Gulf, between Yemen and UAE.
Muscat, the country's enchanting capital city, retains a
traditional way of life, with an intriguing mix of the old
and the new. The country's major industries include oil,
natural gas, agriculture and fishing, although considerable
attention has been given to tourism in the recent years.
Comprising three core districts, namely Muscat, Mutrah and
Ruwi, each district functions as an influential entity that
shapes modern-day Muscat society.
Muscat or the old port area is the site of His Majesty the
Sultan's Palace. Old city walls that enclose the imperial
residence and the harbour, offer visitors a glimpse of the
city's rich past.
Just northwest of Muscat is Mutrah, the main trading and
residential area, renowned as a haven for souvenir shopping.
Ruwi is the capital's thriving commercial district, which
boasts all the comforts of contemporary everyday
conveniences. Just a short distance from here, is The Chedi
Muscat, which is located in the area of Al Khuwair,
approximately 15-20km or a 10-minute drive from Seeb
International Airport.
The climate in
Muscat is arid with temperatures soaring to as high as 43
deg C in the day during summer, and as low as 17 deg C in
the night during winter. This inadvertently creates a
versatile environment for a variety of activities from
shopping, to cultural expeditions and water-sports.
The city of Muscat has earned a reputation amongst travelers
as a land of natural beauty and friendly smiles, making it
an exotic retreat for avid holidaymakers.
Most major airlines have flights servicing Seeb
International Airport in Muscat, which is 40 km from the
capital's city centre, and a mere 12 miles or a 10-minute
drive from The Chedi Muscat.
All visitors, except for citizens of Gulf countries or
visitors with tourist visas to the UAE, would require visas
prior to travel to Oman. Nationals of countries in the
European Union, the Americas, Australia and New Zealand may
obtain temporary visas on entry into Oman. When applying for
a visa, visitors should also ensure that their passports
have at least a 6-month validity period. |
